22 Ways to Up Your Mental Game

You win in your mind first before anywhere else.  Your mindset, attitude, and way of approaching everything has the biggest impact on your success.  But, even if you understand this, sometimes it is easy to get stuck in a rut or pattern where you are comfortable and don't challenge yourself to up your game and reach higher levels of thinking.

Here are 22 ways to up your mental game and breakthrough to new levels of success in your life.

  1. Give yourself a challenge.  Seek out and find a way to challenge yourself in a new way.
  2. Take inventory of your beliefs.  When was the last time you asked yourself what you believe about things such a life, work, love, happiness, success, politics, etc.?  Figure out what you truly believe.
  3. Stop in the middle of work time and take a walk - let your mind wonder whichever way it wants
  4. Embrace the biggest thing you fear right now in life and become comfortable with it - then see it through.
  5. Reach out to someone who has really made a difference in your success to this point and thank them.  It is amazing what gratitude can do to your attitude.
  6. Start asking "How?" when you are saying "No."
  7. Visit a place your normally wouldn't (Museum, national park, the headquarters of a CEO/Company you admire)
  8. Do a few sessions with guided meditation using an app like Headspace.
  9. Join a Mastermind group that you have to pay to belong to.
  10. Hire a coach to hold you accountable and that is much more successful than you.
  11. Pick one thing you are good at and find one way to get even better at it.
  12. Focus on the absolute most important task or action needed for your success first each day .
  13. Start planning your days the evening before.
  14. Ask your peers and/or employees for honest feedback on areas you can improve and why they think you need to  improve in those areas.
  15. Forgive yourself or forgive someone for something that needs forgiven.
  16. Pick something and see it all the way through (learning a language, putting in place an exercise routine, bringing a product to fruition, etc.)
  17. Give yourself a positive compliment each day.
  18. Set a new goal.
  19. Create vision board of the things you aspire to be, do, and have.  Put pictures of these things on the board and in a place where you can see it throughout the day.
  20. Practice harder.  Go the extra mile or repetition.  This could be for a speech, putting in a coaching routine for people you work with, pushing yourself a little more at a sport, anything in which you know you can put in a little extra effort.
  21. Let something go - a problem, an issue out of your control, an asshole in your life - just let it go and be at peace.
  22. Put things in perspective.  You've probably got it better than the majority of people on this earth, don't feel sorry for yourself - make the most out of every talent and capability you have.  The world deserves your best.
