Special Episode with Dave Lukas431: The Biblical Story of Joseph, 10 Powerful Lessons for Entrepreneurial Growth
This is another special episode and I got the idea of it from a recent service at our church, Worthington Christian Church here in Ohio. Now before you turn this off or stop watching, I am not going to be teaching a sermon to you and pushing the Bible down your throat, but as I listened to this message which was about the 10 Principles learned from the Story of Joseph in Genesis, I could not help but think about how much the 10 principles not only are useful in life, but incredibly important for success in entrepreneurship. In fact, the message was so good that I am actually going to play pastor Austin Seevers delivering it here in a minute, but first I was to set the stage a little. If you don’t know the story of Joseph from Genesis. Joseph was one of 12 brothers, whose father was Jacob. Now, Jacob was no ordinary person. He was the grandson of Abraham, to whom God first promised that his descendants would become a great nation, inherit the land of Canaan, and be a blessing to all nations. He was kind of a big deal. And Joseph was his favorite son of the 12. In fact, he was favored so much that his brothers jealously caused them to first try to kill him, but later sell him into slavery. And then sold again to the Pharoah in Egypt with whom he ended up gaining favor and rising to be the 2nd most powerful person in Egypt only to meet his brothers again years later in a time of need. It is through this story the 10 lessons are explained, so I am going to let Austin go through the detail and lessons for you and then below I share how they relate to running a business and being an entrepreneur. Dave Lukas - Lessons for Hannah430: Lessons For Hannah - Jordan Peterson's Six Principles for a Meaningful Life
Hello Misfit Nation! Welcome to another edition of "Lessons for Hannah!" Many years ago, I introduced a new format that alongside our regular episodes called “Lessons for Hannah.” Hannah is my daughter and one of the main inspirations for the Misfit Entrepreneur. I wanted to have a place where she could go and learn from her daddy and his Misfit friends throughout her life….even after I am gone. If you haven’t listened to the first episode of "Lessons for Hannah," I urge you to as it gives some more background and tells the amazing story of how Hannah came to be in our lives. Lessons for Hannah are short, very useful, and sometimes comical lessons, that I want to share with you and give to Hannah to help in your lives. Because I want Hannah to have these for her life, I’m going to speak as though I am talking directly to her. These episodes are a lot of fun and if you think there is a lesson that we should include in these episodes, please don’t hesitate to send it over to us at [email protected]. We’d love to share it. Dave Lukas Chats with Dominic Rubino429: From $0 to $120M, Dominic Rubino’s Secrets to Entrepreneurial Success
This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Dominic Rubino. Dominic is an interesting Misfit. He is a serial entrepreneur who’s had businesses in Construction Trades, Contracting, Mail Order, Pharmaceuticals, Real Estate, & Business Coaching. But it took a long time for Dominic to feel like he could call himself an entrepreneur and the turning point came AFTER he took his business from zero to over 120 million in sales (with, as he says, some serious internal dysfunctions!). You may have heard of him, not so much from what I I’ve shared, but as the host of two very popular podcasts, “Profit Tool Belt” and “Cabinet Maker Profit System.” He’s also the author of the book Construction Millionaire Secrets. Domini is a true misfit and Swiss army knife of entrepreneurship, so we’re going to hit on all kinds of topics in this episode. https://www.profittoolbelt.com/ Click Here to See the Full Show Notes and Misfit 3 for This Episode |

Dave Lukas Chats with Dane Espegard423: The Dream Machine: Unleashing Team Potential and Business Success with Dane Espegard
This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Dane Espegard. This conversation today holds a special place for me as Dane is division leader for Vector Marketing. Some of you may know Vector or even worked for them as they are the company behind Cutco knives. I have talked about this before, but I initially cut my teeth in selling and paid for my college selling Cutco. Everyone that works for them is a contractor building their own business, whether a salesperson, district, division manager and so on. To get to running a division means you are one of the best at developing people, especially young people. And over 2 decades, Dane has built a division that has sold over $51 million in cutlery! A $50+ million-dollar business selling knives primarily through high schoolers and young adults. If you can do that, you are doing something right. So, you can understand why I’ve invited Dane on the show to share his secrets for building a great business and organization. It's great timing too as he has released the book, The Dream Machine: A Leader's Guide to Creating Teams of High Performers Who Achieve Extraordinary Outcomes. https://daneespegard.com/ Click Here to See the Full Show Notes and Misfit 3 for This Episode |
Dave Lukas Chats with Talia Boone422: How Talia Boone Disrupted the Floral Industry During the Pandemic and Built a Massive Company
This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Talia Boone. Talia is the founder of Postal Petals, a floral industry startup that is changing the entire industry. Now, here’s the interesting thing, Talia founded the company in the middle of the pandemic and lockdowns. If you remember, businesses like that were shut down and for many, the last thing on their mind was getting some flowers. But Talia bucked the trend and created a new model that thrived during that time and continues to today. How did she do it and go on to build such a great company re-inventing the way flowers are bought? Well, it’s those lessons and principles that I want to dig in with her in this episode. https://www.postalpetals.com/ Click Here to See the Full Show Notes and Misfit 3 for This Episode |
Special Episode with Dave Lukas421: How Rich People Think with Dave Lukas
I am changing things up this week. I had an episode ready to go, but was on a long run yesterday, a 15-miler getting ready for next Ironman and as I like to do, I listen to podcasts or audiobooks. I popped on Steve Siebold’s book How Rich People Think and I have to say, I forget how great this little gem of a book is. This book is a treasure trove of insights into the mindset of the wealthy. There over 25 of them and I was running, I thought, I’ve got to share some of this with the Misfit Audience! So, I’ve gone through it and picked out the top 10 lessons I believe are crucial for anyone looking to elevate their financial success and build wealth. But as I mentioned—these 10 lessons are just scratching the surface. Siebold packs this book with so much more. I highly recommend reading it in full because there’s no substitute for learning straight from the source. So, what’s this book all about? It’s about the difference in thinking between the rich and the average person. It’s about breaking down limiting beliefs, taking control of your financial destiny, and reprogramming your mind to think like the wealthy Click Here to See the Full Show Notes and Misfit 3 for This Episode |

He was first on the show all the way back in 2020 and his story is pretty incredible. At age 30, Damion was facing the loss of a $20 million portfolio, grappling with homelessness, and utter despair. But, he fought his way through and back rebuilding his wealth to more that $200 million. Now, I bet you can see why I’ve asked back on the show because you need to hear from him how he did it, what he learned along the way, and how he has continued to grow and thrive since. He has built over 70 companies with Frametech and and the eQRP system/Turnkey Retirement being most notable.
