Misfit Entrepreneur 15: Kelly Roach

Dave Lukas Chats with Pavel Stuchlik

369:  From Millionaire at 21 to Broke and Back, How Pavel Stuchlik Found Purpose and True Success

This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Pavel Stuchlik.  Pavel, also known as NOA|AON, is a professional cyclist turned serial 7-figure entrepreneur and investor.  As an entrepreneur, Pavel made his first million before the age of 21 and successfully launched, scaled, and exited many brands, including Orange Theory Fitness.  On top of that, Pavel is also an internationally conscious DJ and producer who heals others by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

Pavel’s mission is to bring people back to their center in union with others through his movement, #noamovement. This movement was born after spending long 10 days in complete darkness in south-east Asia which was one of the most difficult and transformative moments Pavel has experienced.

Needless to say, Pavel has led a very interesting life both as an entrepreneur and spiritually and thought was the perfect Misfit to come on discuss how to blend the two and achieve your trust potential.

Show Notes

Pavel feels like he has lived 5 different lives to this point.  It all happened because of his inner voice putting him on path to find the true meaning in life.  He started out in the Czech Republic as competitive cyclist and because the sport was so expensive, he had to find a way to pay for it.  This led him to entrepreneurship where he started trading between Alibaba and Ebay with $0 money.  He would take the pictures of the products from Alibaba and post them on Ebay and then sell it to the customer using dropshipping.  He built it to a serious business, but as he competed more and more riding over 25,000 miles per year, he found himself in chronic fatigue between competing and running the business.

It all culminated in a trip to the hospital after a big race because his body just shut down.  He then moved to the US and was on quest to find work so he could get a Visa.  He bounced around and ended up in Hawaii working in restaurant chain.  He then moved to Florida and discovered Orange Theory fitness when it had 6 locations.  He went to their office and told them he wanted to franchise.  He put all he had into it and opened up the Georgia market becoming the fastest growing region in the entire chain in 6 months.  He helped grow the region to over 55 locations.  He then partnered with the CEO and went on to help them scale across the country.  He spent about 7 years growing the brand, but he committed that every 3 months, he would do something out of the ordinary.  Something to disrupt his comfort level and focus on the spiritual side.

He got to a point where he was burned out again like he was in cycling – even though he had accomplished more than most people dream of.  He took one of his sabbaticals in Thailand and unplugged.  When he walked out, he knew what he wanted to do.  He started Noa Aon.  Noa means movement and Aon means “all or none.”  It symbolized duality of the highs and lows of life.  He learned to find harmony between the two.

Within 3 years, he was broke and out of money.  He entered the darkest period of his life and when Covid hit, it took down the rest of his Orange Theory locations.  He expected to go bankrupt, but would not give up and kept working to get out of the mess.  He started doing Covid testing out of his Orange Theory’s and started doing events serving corporations and groups as Covid ended.  He then sold the remaining Orange Theory’s.

When you came out of the cave in Thailand, you had purpose and knew how you wanted to live, what were those principles?
  • He realized how to unhook from everything and everyone which helped him to get in touch with his true self.  He was a slave to the “grind” of business and he lacked meaning.
  • One of his other passions is music, so he decided to product music at specific frequencies designed for healing, but at a modern beat and started to DJ helping others.  He scaled that to performing at retreats, lectures, etc.
  • His legacy is the business of consciousness.  Helping people and entrepreneurs not only profit, but move to focus on purpose.

What does it mean to have true consciousness?
  • There are two ways to live life.  We can be in the driver’s seat or we can be the passenger.
  • When you take full ownership of the choices you make and consequences, you can be conscious to everything you do in life.
  • In his own life, his old choices lead to problems for him, so he had to slow down and figure out what he really wanted and then make better choices to get it.

What are the most meaningful lessons you have learned from your entrepreneur journey?
  • Every time he started a business with a focus on money, he ended up in burnout.
  • You need a deep and true “why” or you will find yourself feeling empty.
  • Align what you do with the integrity and values you live by.

How did you go broke and what are some of the best lessons you learned from that time?
  • It happened because he over-extended.
  • At the same time, he was running and growing Orange Theory’s, he also started the largest Yoga/Fitness studio in Atlanta – over 50,000 square feet.
  • He also invested in a meal planning and delivery company as well as some other businesses.
  • He was operating 5 different companies with hundreds of employees and it became impossible to manage.
  • He also had other commitments he had made.
  • When he sold his Orange Theory’s to private equity, he got the payout, but he didn’t plan for the lack of cashflow…and when it ran out, he was in trouble.
  • He was still involved with Orange Theory, but had nothing.
  • He analyzed what got him there and the decisions he made.  That was the lesson.  In the darkest moment, looking at what got him there and where he messed up by having too many focuses.

Talk to us about the principles you use to build a business since you’ve lost it all and then built another massive business…
  • Pavel really resonates with Simon Sinek’s “Start with Why,” so nowadays, everything for him begins with his “why.”
  • Then if the business aligns with “why,” he moves on the how.  Asking “How am I going to realize the great version of himself through doing it?”
  • He looks backwards from 5 years to imagine himself doing and enriching his life and the lives of others through doing it.
  • It starts with you.  If you lose yourself, your relationships, balance, peace, health, etc. in doing something, then what is it good for?

What habits and lessons did you take from competitive cycling that helped you most as entrepreneur?
  • Goal setting, in cycling, you plan out your year and visualize your success for literally every course that you ride.
  • He does the same in business.  He builds his life around his goals for his life.
  • He has a goal sheet for 1 year, 5, and 10.  He then breaks things down to actions daily.

Tell us about your “Reset Method…”
  • It is the analogy of a system reset on a computer.
  • It is a combination of everything Pavel has learned with scientific backing.
  • It looks at life from every aspect.
  • The formula is Me, We, and Be.
  • The me is the individual consciousness – it is the focus on your physical, mindset, spiritual.  Taking care of the temple of your body.
    • Pavel goes deep on this, so it is best to listen on all 3.
  • We is the collective consciousness.
  • Be is the Super-collective consciousness.  How we came to be in this world and universe.

What is the first action to take in resetting?
  • 4 stages of the journey.
  • Awakening is the first phase.  A realization of the problem, challenge, or need.
  • Cleaning Up.  Let go of the old.
  • Empowerment.  Making the change needed.
  • Rest up and repeat.  Unhook.  Take time off, re-evaluate, and make sure you are

What is the power of frequency?
  • Think of yourself as a piano.  When you play, you can vibrate on a high key note or low key note.
  • Low key notes are negative and high key notes are positive.
  • Which do you want to have in your life?  It’s your choice.

Best Quote

Misfits, I want to ask you a question. When you think of your “universal inbox”, what do you think of? And by that I mean, what’s the most reliable and convenient way for someone to get in touch with you? Most people would say, “Here’s my phone number, text or call me,” right?

The reality is, people want to text. That’s why 70.7% of consumers have subscribed to receive texts from at least one business in the past year. It gives them the freedom to reply when it’s convenient for them, it reduces the amount of time playing phone tag, and you can count on the message being seen since people tend to stay on top of it more than their social media or their emails.

That’s where SimpleTexting comes in – I am customer and love this solution.  Myself and thousands of other businesses use the Simple Texting platform to connect with customers, leads and staff and much more.

They’re an all-in-one texting platform that makes it easy, fast and affordable to reach lists of customers, have 2-way conversations and set up automated texts. Which are great for appointment reminders, text-for-info programs, generating reviews, and pretty much anything you can think of.

I use it almost daily across my businesses to connect and help customers.

Plans start at just $29 per month but as a Misfit listener, you can try SimpleTexting free for 14-days. And if you go to simpletexting.com/misfit  you can get $100 worth of free credits when you sign up.
