Dave Lukas Chats with Steve Pirie and Sarah Nally162: What it Means to Wonder and Wander with Steve Pirie and Sarah Nally
This week’s Misfit Entrepreneurs are Steve Pirie and Sarah Nally. Steve is a serial entrepreneur who spends his time across different sectors including travel, fitness, and not-for-profit. He’s co-founded and sold many businesses as well as had companies ranked in the 100 fastest growing startups. Sarah is a Momtrepreneur and co-founder of Australia’s most innovative event series, Wired for Wonder. She is also the founder of online show business Sienna Baby, the business retreat, Nurture Her, and The Wonder tribe. Together, they founded Wonder and Wander a company and foundation dedicated to helping bring people together to “shrink the world,” foster deep, meaningful, world-changing connections and conversations, and make a difference. There is a lot we can learn from Steve and Sarah’s experiences and how they’ve learned operate business at the highest levels as a couple. www.WonderandWander.com Show NotesSarah grew up in Tasmania. And after finishing school, she knew she wanted to go into business. She studied HR and Business Psychology. She took the standard path, got a good job, and started to climb the corporate ladder. She had some great success. She had a family, a good job, etc. She realized that everything she had done in work had really stemmed from her head and not her heart and this put her on the path to open a new chapter for herself which lead to everything she has done and helping other people find their purpose in life.
Steve had the exact opposite journey. Steve grew up in New Zealand and moved early to the Cook Islands. Steve’s parents pushed him to be an academic, but he was more content climbing trees. He was always intrigued with what was possible and at 15 had a goal to one day write himself a million dollar check. He also was a star athlete and even go to compete for his country. He had 4 successful exits before 30 years old. He had a family, 3 kids, but, he was not fulfilled at all and at one point, he hit rock bottom. Picking himself up and getting out of this was how he and Sarah realized what it truly means to wonder and wander in life. As entrepreneurs and busy professionals, we often forget to take even 5-10 minutes to focus and center ourselves. Now, there are ton of meditation type apps out there, but none that I’ve seen like Simple Habit.
The reason Simple Habit is unique is that it’s not one person the app is built around giving you lessons, it’s over 100 experts in different areas guiding you and helping you. I love this because nobody is an expert at every type of discipline, so being able to choose a focused expert is really powerful. Even better is that there are hundreds of meditations free with the app and thousands with the premium version. It’s practical, convenient, and easy to use wherever you are. And get this, it has over 65,000 5 star reviews and is #1 ranked meditation app in the app store. And guess what? They are giving Misfit Listeners 30% off the premium pricing! That is an incredible deal and makes it about as much as a cup of coffee per month. Isn’t your health and well-being worth that? It is for me. All you have to do is download the app and then go to www.GetSimpleHabit.com/Misfit to sign up. You’ll be amazed at what 5-10 minutes a day of focusing your mind can do for you! |
