Misfit Entrepreneur 15: Kelly Roach

Special Episode with Dave Lukas

435: The Top 5 Lessons from 2024 and How to Win Big in 2025

Welcome to another year end edition of the Misfit Entrepreneur!
This year, I am going to do something a little different. I’ve just returned from spending almost a month overseas and competing in New Zealand in the Ironman World Championships. I promised my family that I would take that time with them and just unplug. That meant no podcasts or anything during that time and I stuck to it. It was an amazing trip and such a wonderful experience. For all my Kiwi listeners, your country is truly incredible. I hope everyone watching and listening gets a chance to visit it someday.

I started out saying that this end of year episode is going to be a little different. Where usually, I do a recap of all the episodes throughout the year and share wisdom from them, instead, I am going to share my Top 5 lessons I am taking away from 2024 and my best advice going into 2025. I had a lot of time to think on these things while I traveled and thought it would be great to share them with you.

Lesson 2: Stay Focused in Your Lane
  • Avoid chasing shiny objects; say "no" more than "yes."
  • Double down on what works and cut out unproductive distractions.
  • Staying in your lane increases profitability and reduces unnecessary stress.

Lesson 3: Pay Attention to What You Are Buying

  • Differentiate between "stuff," education, distractions, and time.
  • The wealthy prioritize buying time and meaningful experiences.

Lesson 4: AI is Not the Answer, But It’s a Useful Tool

  • AI is great for efficiency, analysis, and optimization, but it cannot replace human decision-making.
  • Use AI in content creation, hiring processes, training, and business operations to save time.
  • Ignoring AI means falling behind competitors.

Lesson 5: Prioritize What Truly Matters

  • Family, friendships, core values, and health should be at the top of your priorities.
  • Avoid wasting time and energy on things that won’t matter long-term.
  • Invest in your health and relationships—they’re your most valuable assets.

Best Advice for 2025?

  • Stay ready for anything by planning for multiple outcomes.
  • Success often comes from being patient and acting decisively when opportunities arise.
  • Enjoy the journey, celebrate your wins, and savor the process.

Best Quote

  • People underestimate what they can accomplish in a year. Stay consistent, and the magic will happen.

Misfit Entrepreneurs!

I want to tell you about an incredible resource that will have tremendous impact on your business and your revenue.  I have used this solution in multiple businesses and it has made an incredible difference!  Let me start by asking you something.  “Do you know how much it costs your business when just one salesperson doesn’t step up to deliver?  Do you really know?”   The cost can easily exceed six figures for just one bad hire – not just from the time, effort, and resources in hiring, but from the lost business and downtime as well.  And the last thing any growing business can afford is to have a failed hire, especially in sales, the revenue driver for the company.

But, what if there was a way to know someone checked all the boxes of a great sales hunter and closer before you ever hired them?  That’s the solution I’ve found from a company called SalesDrive.  They have created a solution called DriveTest®. A powerful hiring tool that separates high-performance salespeople from pretenders by measuring the most critical personality trait needed for success in sales: Drive.

Drive is composed of three non-teachable traits shared by all top producers: Need for Achievement, Competitiveness, and Optimism.  And knowing who has Drive before the interview dramatically increases your chances of selecting salespeople who will produce for you, while avoiding those costly bad hires.  I’ve used the solution and it works.  In fact, it works so well, I have referred them to every company I work with.

And they created a special offer so you can use them as well, for FREE.  You can Get a free DriveTest® assessment today at www.MisfitEntrepreneur/SalesDrive
